“Get that outta here!”
I gotta say, one of the things I’ve missed the most this summer while now living in the south are the SNY Mets broadcasts. *Sigh*
Best Video Game Car Ever!
1.) Ferrari Testarossa (Outrun)
Though Hang On may have been the test-bed for the technology, the original Out Run arcade game was one of the first driving simulators to put the player head first into the action. It was the game that let us dream of actually cruising down familiar roads at high-speeds and it was the Ferrari Testarossa we associate with that dream. It combined the beauty of a...

Couric, Letterman too much for McCain and Palin →
So, I think I’m coming around to Katie Couric. Or maybe it’s that Katie Couric is finally giving us a reason to watch. For years (has it been years?) it seemed like the only reason CBS was giving for us to watch her read the news was because she’s, y’know, Katie Couric, though in the recent weeks (perhaps starting with the conventions) she’s actually offered something...

Running on F
Update: My hands now have the impenetrable stink of gasoline, but my tank is full.
Much thanks to Jenny and that tiny, if curiously designed, gas can, and to the good people at Exxon, who somehow managed to still have gasoline when everyone else in town did not.
Funny story...
So, all last weekend Jenny and I were mocking people waiting in line to buy gasoline, and paying over $5 a gallon for the pleasure. This freakout was in relation to news that several oil rigs off the Texas coast were closing because of hurricane Ike. Idiots. It’s not like there will never be any more gasoline.
Flash forward.
I just spend 15 minutes driving around with the gas-light...

On the drive home from work I’m listening to All Things Considered (where they consider all things) and they’re doing a story about how the price of oil plummeted to $90 a barrel and how it could go even lower and how this is precisely the opposite of what people were saying two months ago when oil was $147 a barrel and predicted to go up another hundred. They also said that the...
Why Libraries Are Back In Style →
Here is all you need to know about my current economic state: While looking through the Wall Street Journal online (!!!) I came upon the above article and thought it looked interesting. It wasn’t until I came close to finishing it did I realize the piece wasn’t talking about “public” libraries, but instead about how people are building libraries onto their homes. This is...

Tuning in to Apple TV 3.0 →
Apple TV has always been underwhelming, but now that I have an HDTV, an iMac packed with video and — get this — an actual couch, I’m suddenly compelled to get all of that content off the computer and into the livingroom. Right now though, the options just aren’t there.

I can’t describe how pissed I am that the copy of Esquire in my mailbox this afternoon was 100% un-e-ink-y. I’ve subscribed to this magazine for close to seven years and yet it is the newstands that get all of the fun flashy-flash. I mean, it makes sense… but still.
